A research study suggest that some people might be able to stop taking their medication for high blood pressure and still maintain a normal blood pressure reading.

A British study showed eight out of nine people with high blood pressure who stopped taking their medication under strict supervision had normal blood pressure readings for up to two years. The doctors stressed that to maintain a normal blood pressure included maintaining a healthy diet and an exercise plan. Included also, is losing weight and quitting bad risk factors such as smoking, etc.

Doctor also stresses follow-up visits in order to “weaned off” hypertension medication. They needed to stop in the doctor’s office every two to three months for blood pressure checks to make sure everything was going fine.

Now, if you are taking medication for high blood pressure, never stop taking it without your doctor’s advice. Because your doctor will know how to slowly “wean” you off the medication.
