Are You Suffering from Allergies?

ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM ALLERGIES. It is known to some as “hay fever,” but it doesn’t come from hay. The scientific name is “allergic rhinitis,” and it can make you sick. The symptoms of allergies are sneezing, running or congested nose, and feeling fatigued.

Most allergies come usually in two forms, they are “seasonal” or “perennial.” The people who suffer seasonally are allergic to the pollen of certain plants, and tree pollinates in the spring, and summer. Also house dust, molds and cats are common allergens for the perennial sufferer. They are all around all the time, and if your allergic to them, your hay fever will not let up.

So, the only way to get complete relief from allergies is to stay inside with the windows shut. During those allergic times you may have as much as possible. That may be hard to do, especially when they are airborne. And moving to a different location won’t help either, since you might find a host of new allergens waiting there.

Most people are able to find relief by using “antihistamines” and “decongestants” for the symptoms of allergies. Your doctor or pharmacist can advise you about the correct dosage of antihistamines and decongestants.

But it is easy to mistake allergies for a cold.

Before you suspect an allergy is your problem, the symptoms should fit one of the following:

  • It last for more than a week.
  • Go on all the time (mold or house dust).
  • Start up and stop at the same time each year (e.g. pollen).
  • Get worse around cats or horses.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist to find relief for your allergy symptoms.
